Marcia M. Carter

Marcia was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Bill Carter; her parents, John and Mary Milkovisch, known for creating Houston’s iconic Beer Can House; and her youngest brother, Guy Milkovisch.

She is survived by her son, Steve Carter, and his wife, Jennifer; her grandchildren, McKenzie, Zachary, and Brittany Carter; and her younger brother, Ronnie Milkovisch.

Marcia was born on March 1, 1941, in Houston, Texas, and was a lifelong Houstonian. She was a graduate of John Reagan High School and a proud member of the Reagan Red Coats.

Marcia married Bill Carter on November 17, 1961, and they remained devoted to one another until his passing on November 3, 1999. Following her graduation from high school, Marcia worked for Humble Oil and Refining Company, now Exxon, for several years before becoming a homemaker. In the mid-to-late 1970s, she briefly worked for Houston Lighting and Power Company.

Above all, Marcia cherished her grandchildren and treasured the time she spent with them. She created countless memories, from taking the “50” Metro bus downtown to visit the Downtown Aquarium to making “Rock Soup” together on her patio. She especially enjoyed playing board games with her grandchildren and preparing their special Granny-visit meal of chicken nuggets and Bob Evans macaroni and cheese.

Marcia will be remembered for her love of family, her devotion to her grandchildren, and the many special memories she created throughout her life. She will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.

Family and friends will be invited to a private Celebration of Life at Marcia’s home. The date will be announced at a later time.
