Heaven is rejoicing! Mary Margaret Weston Brady was welcomed into the arms of the Lord on November 8, 2015, at the age of 83. Margaret was born on September 30, 1932, in New Orleans, Louisiana, the second child of five born to the late Anna LeJeune Weston and Coburn Levi Weston. Margaret grew up in Jackson, Mississippi, where she attended Millsaps College before meeting her future husband, Bob Brady. Margaret and Bob were wed on September 10, 1955, and were happily married until Bob’s death in 2006. Margaret and Bob had five children in Jackson before moving to Corpus Christi, Texas; Shreveport, Louisiana; and then to Houston, Texas, where Margaret worked as a legal secretary and earned her Associates degree in Business at North Harris County College.
Margaret was a devout Catholic whose greatest joy in living was her family. Margaret and Bob said the rosary every day during their 51 years of marriage. When the kids were young, family dinners began when she rang the dinner bell to call all her children to supper, and any neighborhood kids who joined in were always welcome. Margaret’s love of music and celebration was expressed through Christmas carols, family plays, and square dancing. Always happy and cheerful, she welcomed friends and strangers alike into her home. Her favorite color, yellow, and her joy in flower gardening reflected her sunny outlook on life. As a person who strongly believed in helping others, she volunteered at the St. Vincent De Paul food pantry of St. John Neumann parish in Houston. She later joined St. James parish in Spring, Texas, and was active in the Magic 50. After retirement, Margaret and Bob enjoyed traveling, visiting family, and celebrating grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Her kind and caring nature was her most treasured attribute and she brought joy wherever she went.
Margaret was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Bob, her parents, and her brother Larry. She is survived by three siblings: Janet Fontenot Ness (Bill), Joe Weston (Betty), and Julie Smith (Fred); five children: Helen Brady (Rick Sanders), Robert Brady (Diane), Bill Brady (Carla), Ann Lane (Tim), and Catherine Contreras (Russell); twelve grandchildren: Nathan Sanders (Jieun), John Sanders, Dana Brady, Molly Brady-Booker (Fred), Rusty Schomer (Sarah Irwin), Amy Halliwell (Lyle), Casey Schomer, Robbie Brady, Declan Lane, Quinn Lane, Claire Contreras, and Ethan Contreras; eleven great-grandchildren: Daniel Sanders, Heather Gulliot, Amber Kitzmiller, Javon Brady, Tiffany Ferguson, Chance Ferguson, Makayna Brady, Seth Halliwell, Mattie Halliwell, Zoey Halliwell, and Gavin Scribner; and numerous nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the St. Vincent De Paul Food Pantry, St. Vincent De Paul Society of St. John Neumann, 2730 Nelwood Drive, Houston, Texas 77038.
