2 Timothy 4:7 I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith.

Maria Briones,48, passed away to be with Lord on Monday, May 18, 2020 at St. Lukes Hospital. Maria was born August 8, 1971 in Houston, Texas. She was the second daughter to Manuel M. Moreno & Dolores Camario Martinez. Her parents and brother Manuel Martinez precede her in death. Michael and Maria Briones were joined in Holy Matrimony on January 12, 1991, when she married the love of her life for 30 years and to this union, four children were born: Michael Jr., Melissa, Edward and Monica Briones.

Maria accepted Christ at an early age and confessed that Jesus was her Lord and Savior. She attended Looscan Elementary, Marshall Middle School and Jeff Davis High School in 1990 where she received her High School diploma. She attended The University of Houston (Main Campus) where she studied Radiology.

Maria joined the Houston Police Department June 15,1998. During her career with the department, she was assigned to the Records Division and the Office of the Chief of Police as an Administrative Assistant until her retirement on December 22,2015.

Maria was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother until the lord called her home. Her love for her family was priceless; she was always smiling and willing to help in any way possible. She was beautiful inside and out. She enjoyed word puzzles, the casino, amusement parks and taking tons of family road trips.

Maria has left us for a little while, but her memory will be cherished forever in the hearts of her husband: Michael A. Briones, four children: Michael A. Briones Jr., Melissa M Briones, Edward Briones and Monica Briones, three grandchildren: Kendall Briones, Connor Briones and MacKenzie Briones, her siblings: Sylvia Guerra, Mark M. Martinez, Matthew M. Martinez and James M. Martinez and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

When I looked at my phone and saw that Michael Briones was calling me. I had no idea that he was calling to tell me that Maria Briones changed her mailing address. I guess it still didnโ€™t hit me until last night. Let me tell how i meet Maria!! When I came to HPD Marie was my mentor, She was firm, a no nonsense trainer, actually i was trained within two - three weeks!! She let me go!! I will forever be grateful that God placed her in my life. Not only was she my friend, she was my family. This picture was taken a year ago when i saw her at our favorite spot(the casino). I was so happy to see her and her family. Marie was a beautiful person inside and out, she hated pictures, she hated me hugging and kissing her. I Loved it and I loved her๐Ÿ’‹.
I am so happy that i was able to hug and kiss her that day!! Thank you Jesus... Rest in Heaven our Dear Angel๐Ÿ˜‡. Gone from our Sight but never from our hearts๐Ÿ˜‡๐Ÿ™๐Ÿพ๐Ÿ˜˜๐Ÿ’‹. Until we meet again my friend. Love you more๐Ÿ™๐Ÿพ๐Ÿ˜˜๐Ÿ’‹.
To the Briones Family, please know that I am praying for you guys. If you need anything, I am just a phone call away.๐Ÿฅฐ๐Ÿ˜๐Ÿ˜˜๐Ÿ’‹

I worked with Maria in the Chiefโ€™s Office for many years. She was a hard worker and a very good friend. She knew her job and you didnโ€™t have to worry about her doing it well.

To Michael and family, I know you all have beautiful memories of your life with her. I wish to extend my heartfelt condolences and know that she is with our Lord and there is no more suffering, she is resting.
