

She was born in Laoag City, Philippines on January 12, 1925. Maria graduated from Laoag City High School and received a Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education from the Philippine Normal College and at the the Far Eastern University in Manila Philippines.
She was married to Pedro Bautista Sanculi for 63 years. Maria had a career as a first-grade teacher at a public school at the Carino Elementary School, Philippines. Maria and husband Pedro were members of the Paniqui, Teacher's Association, North Chapter. They were also members of the Filipino-American Association in Houston, Texas. Maria and her husband Pedro were members of the La Pieta International Prayer of Houston. Maria had a passion for praying, singing and playing jumble words/ crossword puzzles.
She was survived by: Gloria Sanculi-Espartero, Eden Sanculi-Ibay, and Pedro Bruno Sanculi. Sons in law: Armis Quillamor-Espartero, Virgilo Ordinario Ibay, and Efrenita Borja-Sanculi. Grandchildren: Ian Peter Sanculi, Hazel Sanculi, Kristina Esparter-Kieng, Katrina Sanculi-Espartero, Leilani Ibay-Mijares, Christopher Sanculi-Ibay. Greatgrandchildren: Ethan Peter Mijares, Isaac Luke Mijares. Niece/Nephews: Alicia Bruno-Almowazri, Herman Limson-Bruno, Eduardo Limson-Bruno, Franciso Limson-Bruno. Cousins: Ilumida Medrano, Mario and Juliet Medrano.
