Maria de Los Angeles Sosa

Maria was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Jeronimo Rivas Sosa, as well as by two of her sons, Saul Sosa and Samuel Sosa. Samuel is survived by his wife, Alice.

She leaves behind a large and loving family. Her surviving children include her sons Sergio Sosa and his wife Norma, Servando Sosa and his wife Isadora “Cindy,” and Salvador “Sonny” Sosa and his wife Yolanda “Yoli.” She is also survived by her daughters Sylvia Sosa, Sonia Sosa, and Selma Sosa.

Maria’s legacy continues through her many grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Among them are Jeremy Rene Sosa and his wife Natalie K., along with their daughters Madeline and Katherine; Jason Ryan Sosa and his wife Ashley, and their daughters Aurora and Autumn “Munchy”; Gina Marie Sosa and her husband Nick Valdez, and their son Andrew Daniel Lopez; Jennifer Ann Gonzalez and her husband Azael, and their children Arian Azael, Aidan Jeremiah, and Jazel Ayana; Sergio Christian Sosa; Gabriela “Gabby” Michelle Izquierdo and her husband Francisco, along with their children Julianna Michelle Mendoza, Julian Michael Izquierdo, and Elizabeth Grace Izquierdo; Luis Torres; Samantha Sosa and her son Mason Franklin Sosa; Steven Sosa; Sabrina Sosa and her son Easton Eliseo Sosa; Salvador “Sal” Sosa Jr. and his wife Tawanda, and their daughter Elissa “Bean” Parker Alexander; Steven Sosa; and Simon Sosa and his wife Jaclyn “Jackie.”

Maria will be remembered for her deep devotion to her family, her enduring strength, and the warmth she brought to every life she touched. Her memory lives on in the hearts of all who knew and loved her.

A visitation for Maria will be held Wednesday, May 14, 2025 from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Forest Park Lawndale Funeral Home, 6900 Lawndale Street, Houston, TX 77023 with a rosary at 6:30 PM. A funeral service will occur Thursday, May 15, 2025 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM, 6900 Lawndale Street, Houston, TX 77023. A committal service will occur Thursday, May 15, 2025 from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM at Forest Park Lawndale Cemetery, 6900 Lawndale St, Houston, TX 77023.
