Marie Koy Sheltz

Marie Koy Sheltz, age 98, of Houston, Texas, passed away peacefully on August 2, 2025, surrounded by her loving family. Marie was born on June 13, 1927, in Houston, Texas, to the late Arthur and Mary (Sassie) Koy. She graduated from Incarnate Word and went on to work at Texaco as a comptroller.

Marie married Robert Perry Sheltz, on August 5, 1950, and together they built a life full of love, laughter, and devotion to family. She was a proud mother of six children, grandmother to 15 grandchildren and great-grandmother to 16 great-grandchildren.

She was a member of the Rosarian Club. Marie later worked at Prudential Life Insurance company as a group health claims processor for 10 years.

In addition to raising 6 children, she enjoyed crafts, cross stitch, stained glass, quilting, playing cards, and travelling, but mostly she enjoyed spending time with her family.

She is preceded in death by her parents and her beloved husband, Robert, who was afflicted with Parkinson’s. She lovingly and patiently cared for him throughout his disease. Marie is survived by her children, Deborah (Bob) Weakley, Robert (Merrie) Sheltz, Ronald (Angie) Sheltz, Karl (Cindy) Sheltz, Susan (Lee) Wells and Sandra (Michael) Kocian.

A Vigil and Rosary will be held at 6:00 p.m. on Sunday, August 10, 2025, at Forest Park Lawndale, 6900 Lawndale, Houston, 77023.

A Mass will be held Monday, August 11, 2025, at 1:00 pm at St. Mary's of the Expectation Catholic Church, 1612 East Walker Street, League City, 77573.

Pursuant to Marie’s request, the graveside service will only be attended by her immediate family.

She also requested that anyone wishing to send flowers, instead please send a contribution to the charity of your choice. Marie will be remembered for her kindness, wisdom, and unwavering love for her family.
