Martha Cooper Braddick, age 86, of Houston, TX, passed away shortly after midnight on Wednesday, October 2, 2024. A loving wife, sister, aunt, and cherished friend, Martha left a lasting impression on everyone she met. She was born on August 18, 1938, in Bremond, TX, the sixth of eight children to Henry Tilton and Willie Mae (Redden) Cooper. She graduated from Sam Houston High School in 1956.
Martha is survived by her sister, Gracie Howell; nieces Nancy Cooper, Terri Cooper Ramirez, Susan Cooper Neumeyer, Diana Villalpando, Molly Johnson, Joyce Horton, Annie Cooper, Karen Sue Cooper, Hilda Cooper; and nephews Jim Cooper, Richard Cooper, Rex Cooper; along with many great-nieces and nephews.
Martha was predeceased by her beloved husband of 58 years, Britt Braddick; her parents; four brothers: Calvin, Gene, Norman, and James Melvin; two sisters: Ruth Brantner and Nettie Robertson; and niece Diane Johnson.
Martha and Britt met at the tender age of 14 and married on June 8, 1963. Their love story is one of mutual adoration, enriched by lifelong friendships made here and during their travels.
Martha worked as an Executive Secretary from the 1970s to early 90s. Her favorite job was with the John W. Mecom Company, and she often shared stories from those days and the fun she had with her close girlfriends and coworkers at the Warwick Club.
Martha was known for always dressing beautifully, with not a hair out of place. Her signature hair was thanks to her longtime dear friend and hairstylist, David Ivie. Martha was a generous and thoughtful person to her family and friends and went out of her way to be kind to others. Everyone who knew her will always remember her for her enormous heart and wonderful sense of humor. Martha was truly a blessing to so many and will be deeply missed.
Martha was a dedicated member of Candlelight Church of Christ for almost 30 years.
The family would like to thank Johnny Peralta and Jesse Guzman, who were caregivers for Britt in his final years. Johnny and Jesse became family to them and helped care for Martha in the last few months. We would also like to recognize and express our appreciation for the doctors, nurses, and staff of Memorial Hermann Greater Heights for their care as well.
In lieu of flowers, a contribution may be made in Martha’s honor to Candlelight Church of Christ, 4215 Watonga Blvd, Houston, Texas 77092, or the charity of one's choice.
