

Mary Luton Beyer, 93, died at home surrounded by her family on Jan. 26. 2015, one day short of her 70th wedding anniversary with husband Al. She met Al at the University of Texas Medical Branch in Galveston where she graduated with a nursing degree in 1944. Throughout her life, Mary was active in many organizations and was the founding member of Assistance League of Houston, which became the first Texas Chapter of the National Assistance League . She was also an active member of the Blue Bird Circle and past president of Braeswood Garden Club. Mary was a charter member of the Adelphi Class at First United Methodist Church and active in the Church Reading Circle for many years. Mary treasured many good times with all her dear friends. With a zest for adventure, she loved traveling the world with Al and friends on numerous trips that she organized. A special joy in her life was grandson Andrew Price, whose recent wedding to Callie Puett she was so happy to attend. Mary will be dearly missed by all whose lives she touched. She is survived by husband Alvin Beyer, Jr.; daughters and sons-in-law Barbara and Bill McVicker, Betty and Gilland Price and Bonnie and John Suchina; grandson Andrew Beyer Price and wife Callie. Step grandchildren are Lisa and Jeremy Hedges and children, Joe and Haley Bielamowicz; and Scott McVicker and his children, Jordan, Dylan and Jenna McVicker.
A Memorial Service will be held Thursday, January 29, 2015 at 2pm at First United Methodist Church, 1320 Main St., Houston, TX 77002; ground parking is located on Polk between Travis and Milam. Honorary Pall Bearers include: Bill McVicker, Gilland Price, John Suchina, Andrew Beyer Price, and Captain Luis Martinez. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Adelphi Class Scholarship Fund, the First United Methodist Church or the Assistance League of Houston.
