Mary Lue Ehrlund

She was born in Houston, TX on August 18, 1933, the youngest child of Mary Mabel “May” McMorris and her husband Arthur Hjorth. Mary Lue grew up in Richmond, TX with her mother and two brothers. They moved to Houston in 1944. She attended Johnson Jr. High and graduated from Stephen F. Austin High School. She was elected Jr. Beauty and Sr. Beauty by her class mates. She was also a member of the ROTC.

Mary Lue was united in marriage to her high school sweetheart, Robert Lee Ehrlund at the First Presbyterian Church in Houston on February 9, 1951. She was a devoted wife for 68 years. They were blessed with two sons, Ronald Lee “Ronnie” Ehrlund and Larry Thomas Ehrlund. She had worked for Soutwestern Bell Telephone Co. in directory sales for 3 years. It was then, that Mary Lue and Robert became involved in the dog grooming and boarding business in Houston. They owned and operated together OST Boarding Kennels and later Spring Branch Pet Bar, serving many people by caring for their family pets. They were partners in the grooming and boarding business for over 37 years before their retirement.

She was a member of Foundry Methodist Church, Norchester Garden Club, Bridge Club, and special group of friends called the “Thursday Group”. She enjoyed playing bridge with her friends and getting together for lunch with her special friends of the “Thursday Group”. But most of all, she cherished times spent with her family. She was very proud of her two sons and especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren who lovingly called her “Lulu”.

She was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers, Arthur H. McMorris & William E. McMorris, son Larry Thomas Ehrlund, brother-in-law Wayne McManners and nephew William McMorris, Jr.

Mary Lue is survived by her husband Robert, son Ronald Lee Ehrlund and wife Carol of Giddings, daughter-in-law Loretta Ehrlund of San Antonio. Grandsons Robert L. Ehrlund and wife Alisa of Giddings, Justin L. Ehrlund and wife Latisha of Giddings. Granddaughters Charlotte Ehrlund Potter and husband Steven of San Diego, CA, Michele Ehrlund Wright and husband Travis of San Antonio. Great grandchildren Lilly, Violet and Rose Ehrlund of Giddings, Kyndall and Kade Ehrlund of Giddings, Allison and Brayden Wright of San Antonio. Sister-in-laws Arden McMorris of Houston, Mary Ruth McMorris of Houston, and Patsy McManners of Lockhart. As well as several nieces and nephews. Her best friend Margie King and endearing friend Mamie Stokes.
