Mary Ann was born in Houston, Texas on January 30, 1926, to Lewis and Ina Stricklin. She ha one brother, Raymond. Ray became a successful actor starting at the Alley Theatre and went on to make movies, television appearances and stage performances. She graduated from Milby High School in 1942 at the age of 16. It was war time and dreams of becoming an interior decorator were replaced by the practicality of a full time job. Her first job was working as a secretary for Hudson Realty in downtown Houston. It was there that she met and married the love of her life, Clayton Evans, who was David Hudson's nephew. Mary Ann and Clayton were married on June 5, 1946. They were very happily married for 54 years. Together they raised two daughters, Kathy Parsons and Karen Morrow.
Mary Ann spent many years being a full time mother while also caring for her mother and father and aunt. She was an excellent seamstress - dance costumes, dresses, etc.; a wonderful cook and enjoyed many crafts including stained glass, painting on glass and embroidery. She went back to work at Sterling High school, Houston, from 1967-1974, first as an attendance clerk and than as a registrar. After 90 years in Houston, she moved to Bryan, Texas in 2016 to live with her daughter, Karen. This past year we are thankful for the loving care she received from the staff at Crestview and for Hospice Brazos Valley.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Clayton Evans (1920-2000), daughter Kathy Parsons (1951-2002) and brother Raymond Stricklyn (1928-2002).
Mary Ann loved her family and thoroughly enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She is survived by her daughter, Karen Morrow and husband Rob of Bryan, Texas; her son in law J.B Parsons and wife Lois of Bixby, Oklahoma; Grandchildren Sarah Hart of Burien, Washington; Andy and Melissa Parsons of Woodlands, Texas; Mark and Crystal Parsons of Buford, georgia; Anne Morrow of Whitaker, Kansas and Scott Morrow of Bryan, Texas.
