Mary Jane Galvan, age 64, passed away July 18, 2020 at her residence in Alice. She was born September 24, 1955 to Santiago and Dolores Rodriguez and raised in Alice, Texas. She married her husband of 47 years on January 17, 1973. Mary Jane was previously employed as the activity director at Retama Manor Nursing and Rehab for many years. She always loved being around her family laughing and sharing memories. She was a very strong and “tell it like it is” type of person. She enjoyed cooking for her family and always made sure everyone had enough. She was always there when you needed advice or someone to talk to. No matter whether it was right or wrong, she gave her honest opinion. She would always joke when someone would ask her how many grandkids and great-grandkids she had. She would say, she had 13 grandkids and 7 great-grandkids and some would look puzzled, but she would say she loved every single one of them. She will be truly missed. No matter what, when you call her name “Grandma Jane”, you will always remember a woman who loved her family and was always there for everyone. Mary Jane was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Santiago and Dolores Rodriguez; daughter, Linda Ann Galvan-Williams; and grandson, Dominic Yarbough; grandfather, Raymundo Rodriguez; and grandmother, Otilia Rodriguez.
Mary Jane is survived by her husband, Ruben Galvan Jr.; step-father, Marcelo Carmona; sister, Diana Rodriguez; children, Joselito Galvan, Jeannie Galvan, and Michael Galvan; grandchildren, Melissa Galvan, Santiago Galvan, Veronica Medina, Carlos Medina Jr., Alyssa Yarbough, Kenneth R.
