Mary Mabel Brown was born on September 25, 1920 in Greenville, Texas to Thomas Martin Burns and Etta Havens. She was a twin to Marion "Bubba" Burns. Her and 2 of her siblings became orphaned at an early age, and were cared for by Buckner's Orphanage. It was there, by fate, that she met the love of her life. Willis Clyde Brown and Mabel Burns were married on September 23, 1939 in Tyler, Texas. Mabel gave birth to their daughter, Linda Gale, on January 12, 1941. Tragedy struck, when her daughter succumbed to cancer on April 6, 1973. Linda's children, Johnny and Teri, went on to produce Mabel's 5 great-grandchildren: Britney, Johnathon, Tyler, Elizabeth and Hayley. In her free time, Mabel enjoyed sewing and needlepoint, cooking, coloring and playing games. She loved the color purple, butterflies and hummingbirds.
