Mary Ann passed away on Friday, May 15th. Her two children and husband Bob Rich were able to be with her prior to her passing. Born in Richmond, Texas to E.O. Bender and Vlasta Haubelt, she graduated from high school in Richmond and was a majorette in the school marching band. She attended Southwest College in San Marcos and Interior Design School in Houston. She married George A. Schuler Jr of Houston in 1947, he passed away in 1986.
She had a 50 year career in interior design at Joske’s as Manager of the Design Department, President of NSID in 1971, ASID, and Corporate Treasurer of St George Sign Co. She taught swimming to adults and children at her home in Houston. Mary Ann had a zest for life, youthful drive, and a forward fashion sense. She enjoyed entertaining at her homes,“Cricket Box,” and “The Farm”.
Mary Ann was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Houston and was active with the Stephen Ministry and the Fellowship class.
She married Bob Rich February 11, 2012 of Richmond, Texas. Bob has been a lifelong friend of the Bender family and they attended high school in Richmond together.
Mary Ann is survived by her husband Bob Rich, her daughter Candi Schuler Johnson and her husband Jimmy Johnson, their children Jennifer Williamson, husband Rick, Jim Johnson Jr, wife Angie, Jessica Shew, husband Brian. Son George Schuler III and his wife Shirley Schuler and their children Christina Schuler, son George C. Schuler, wife Amanda. Nephew Butch Nelson, wife Dwalah, Kim Rich, as well as great grandchildren, Nicholas Johnson, Kaitlyn Williamson, Madison Johnson, Tyler Williamson, Tanner Johnson, Emma Shew and Austin Shew.
