

MaryAnn Kelly, of Coronado, California, passed away peacefully on February 19, 2025, at the age of 66, after a courageous battle with Alzheimer’s disease. She was born on January 20, 1959, in Albany, New York, to Jim and MaryAnn Kelly. At the age of 12, MaryAnn moved to Houston, Texas, when her father, a Shell Oil executive, was transferred there. She made many lifelong friends in Houston, with whom she remained close for the rest of her life
MaryAnn graduated from Waltrip High School and then attended the University of Texas, where she earned a degree in business. She continued her education at UT, obtaining a master’s degree in public affairs from the LBJ School of Public Affairs and Management. After graduating from the LBJ School, MaryAnn worked for the City of Austin. In 1991, she moved to Coronado, where she started her family and raised her daughter, Sarah.
MaryAnn dedicated her career to real estate in Coronado, serving as the President and Treasurer of the Coronado Real Estate Association and as a Director for the California Real Estate Association. She was also active in Soroptimist International of Coronado, working tirelessly on the Legend Luncheon and silent auctions.
MaryAnn became part of the fabric of the Coronado community and will be remembered for her warmth and humor, her kindness, and her devotion to her family and friends. MaryAnn is survived by her beloved daughter, Sarah Dobi, her three younger brothers, Pat Kelly (Marie), Eric Kelly (Linda), and Will Kelly (Krystal), and many nieces and nephews.
The family wishes to thank our cousin Chuck Scully and his wife Beth for their care of MaryAnn during her illness. The family would also like to extend heartfelt thanks to MaryAnn’s dear friends Deb Newman Pietkiewicz, Jill O’Connor, and Ellie Nolan for their unwavering friendship, love, and support throughout the years. A very special expression of gratitude goes to her lifelong friend, Joan Farenthold and her husband Alex, whose enduring care, compassion, and presence brought great comfort to MaryAnn and her family during her illness.
A rosary followed by a Mass will be held Saturday, May 24, 2025, at 10:00 AM and 10:45 AM respectively at St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church, 3600 Brinkman St, Houston, TX 77018.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital or the Alzheimer’s Association in MaryAnn’s name.
