I was deeply saddened to hear of Marybeth's 
passing. Will remember her smile, laughter and kindness to me. Felt very blessed she called me her amigo. My deepest sympathy for your loss Brad . She will be greatly missed.

Marybeth was one of a kind. She was so loving to everyone and we were blessed to know her. Some of our children had her as a teacher and received the kind of education everyone needs for their kids. Her laugh was the best I ever heard and when I think of Porter, that laugh will be in my heart.  Our sincere heartfelt condolences to Brad, Travis and Wyatt.

Marybeth and I were the early risers at our annual Chi Omega Reunions. We would meet outside, watch the sunrise and talk until the others got up. She missed the last few reunions because she enjoyed helping Travis with Wyatt.  I know Brad, Travis and Wyatt were her world.  Her love and dedication to her family is so admirable. While I missed seeing her the last few years, I hoped we would be able to spend a few more sunrises together in the future.  I will miss those early morning talks. May God give Brad, Travis and Wyatt peace.

Mary Beth was my student teacher…one of the best I ever had.  She and I taught first grade together at Lakeview Elementary School for several years until she transferred to Sugar Mill Elementary School.  She was a joy to work with.  We laughed a lot, made lesson plans together, and spent many hours on the playground keeping watch over our little ones.  We reconnected again when Mary Beth joined our JOY Bible Study.  Everyone loved her and she displayed a love of God and a knowledge of Biblical teachings.  
I will miss you dear friend.  We will meet again.

So very sorry for your loss. Worked with Marybeth at SME for 25 years. She always had  a smile and a positive attitude. My daughter-in-law had her for first grade a Lakeview and remembers her fondly. May God give peace to Brad, Travis and Wyatt.

I met Marybeth the summer before I went to SHSU.  She later became my Chi Omega big sister, my roommate for a semester, and my very dear friend for almost 50 years.
I have struggled to write a tribute worthy of honoring Marybeth.   All my thoughts, words, and memories come back to one word - love.  Marybeth defined love.

I’m so very sorry to hear about the passing of Marybeth. I’ll always remember her as the beautiful Chi O sister who had a smile for everyone and a kind, caring heart. Marybeth was truly beautiful inside and out. Prayers for her family during this difficult time.

Dear Brad and family, I knew Marybeth since elementary and thru college at Sam Houston when she met my (you) Big Brother with Delta Tau Delta. She was always the sweetest and dearest person. Child number three with Mrs. Porter.  After both her brothers had Mrs. Porter, Sarah thought everyone who went to kindergarten would be in Mrs. Porters class. When her brother was there, Sarah would tag along anytime I was at Sugar Mill and confidently say she would be in her class next year. Really glad she did end up with her.

My oldest son Paul with Mrs. Porter. He couldn’t wait for Mondays to go back to school. That ended after kindergarten.

I was a parent of three children who had Mrs. Porter for kindergarten, so I got to know her over three years.  My family loved her,  and we were grateful to have such a wonderful teacher, especially that critical first year.   My kids came home smiling with wonderful stories of what they learned, trips to the treasure box, getting checked off on new skills like tying their shoes. Every year at Sugar Mill we would go to meet the teacher and open house and all three of them had to go by Mrs. Porter's room to give her a hug. They had to get in line behind the countless other children doing the same thing. My oldest was born with  nerve damage in his hand. First day of kindergarten, Mrs. Porter had him pass out some papers. He held the papers with his good hand and was unintentionally crumbling the papers with his weak hand to pass them out. Another kid asked, "What's wrong with your hand?" Mrs. Porter heard  and had him tell the whole class . He said, "I was born with it like this," and showed a closed fist by his head. He said he worked hard and now it was like this and showed the hand open and down. The other kid asked if it would ever be normal. He said, "I don't know."  She called me on a break and told me this story. I was a little nervous about it to be honest. He came home and told me the story and was pretty proud of himself. He loved her class so much.  He was kind of mad he did not get to go on weekends.  My kids are now college grads, the most recent 2024. I ran into Mrs. Porter a couple of years ago at HEB. Of course I had to say hello like the hundreds of parents she's had over the years. I was impressed she remember me by name and asked about the kids. She seemed proud of them, too. She was such a gifted teacher who touched so many lives.  She will be dearly missed by so many.

This world has lost an amazing lady! Brad, I am so sorry for your loss. Mary Beth was one of the most thoughtful and sweetest people I knew in Chi Omega while at SHSU. I have so many fond memories of Mary Beth and Brad; just hanging out at the Chi-O house. Although I haven't seen them in many years, they will always be some of my favorite people. Brad, Travis and Wyatt are in my thoughts and prayers at this difficult time. Soar with the angels Mary Beth and rest in peace!

Marybeth was a wonderful and loving grandmother to Wyatt. She created many memories for him. We will all miss her. 💔

Mike and I are so saddened by this news. I was honored to have taught with Marybeth for many years. We shared so many memorable times within the walls of Sugar Mill Elementary. Marybeth touched the lives of many children and their parents. She will be greatly missed.

With so many others that knew and loved Mary Beth I was so sad to learn that she went home to be with Jesus, her Savior. She was a wonderful teacher for our son and was one of the teachers who inspired him to follow that same career.  Mary Beth's memory will live on in our hearts. She was delightful, fun and a joy to be with.
To her beloved family: I can only begin to imagine how much you will miss her. Mary Beth's smile......it warms my heart to remember it.
