

Mattisue was born on January 24, 1943, in Houston, Texas, to parents Rudelle and Emerson Chaille Valentine, who preceded her in death. She was also preceded in death by her nephew, Robert Keith Pietsch. She graduated from Milby High School in Houston and spent her professional life working faithfully at Southern Importers.
A woman of deep faith, Mattisue was a long-time member of St. John’s Lutheran Church in Houston, Texas, and later Faith Community Church in Pearland, Texas, where she remained active in church and Sunday school throughout her life.
Mattisue found joy in the simple things—reading, drawing, and caring for the many cats and dogs she loved over the years. She was a devoted Star Wars fan and never missed her weekly church and Sunday school services. Though she had no children of her own, her life was richly filled with love for her family, especially her nieces and nephews, whom she adored and cherished deeply.
She is survived by her sister, Vyneeca Pietsch; nephews, Steven Craig Pietsch and his wife, Darlene, and John Michael Pietsch and his wife, Bonnie; niece, Lisa Lynn Pietsch; great-niece, Jessica Michelle Parker; and great-great-nephews, Marshall Elias Gonzales and Maverick Isaiah Gonzales.
Mattisue will be remembered as a thoughtful, caring, generous, and loving daughter, sister, aunt and friend. Her kindness, devotion, and gentle spirit will live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved her.
A visitation will be held at Forest Park Lawndale Funeral Home on April 20, 2026, from 1:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. A Funeral Service will follow at Forest Park Lawndale Funeral Home on April 20, 2026, at 2:00 p.m. The Committal Service will be held at Forest Park Lawndale Cemetery on April 20, 2026 at 3:00 p.m.Larry Pruitt will officiate the ceremony.
