Mauricio "Momo" Ochoa, age 47, of Houston, Texas passed away on Tuesday, August 31, 2021. Mauricio was born August 23, 1974 in San Miguel, San Miguel, El Salvador. He is the oldest of 6 kids from his mother, Reyna Pineda, from being the oldest he is also the only son with five sisters. He was raised in El Salvador until he was 18, and immigrated to Houston, Texas where his mom relocated to. Started working right away, even from the beginning of him being in the United States he always wanted to make sure he was working, always ready to help his mom and family. Momo taught himself how to drive by himself out being stranded at his job at Fuddruckers, let's say he always learned to get out of sticky situation. Some time in 1995, he met his wife Silvia, all because his mother and him needed a babysitter for his 4 year old baby sister. Later on he finally convinced himself to ask Silvia on a date, reluctantly she said yes, going on a Chinese Buffet as their first date, she was more concerned over his big appetite and how she was able to handle him. They dated for 5 years until Mauricio and Silvia decided to bring a new baby into this world, his first daughter, Reina, in 2000. They finally tied the knot in February 14, 2001 and later that same year they birth their second daughter, Janet. Later in 2004, they finally had their 3rd and last daughter, Silvia "Miley" Madelin. During this time he got his second job in 2001 to Outback in Shenandoah, where in his both workplaces he made a lot of friends and coworkers along the way, as well as bringing his family along the ride. He loved to cook, we would always asked him why he never ventured out but he told us that if he didn't love what he was doing he wouldn't be a Chef. In his over two decades of working, Momo has served thousands of people, always got complimented over his cooking and get praised for the amazing hard worker he was. He loved his family and loved going out with them, his favorite activities was going to the beaches of Texas and buying Popeyes as our go to meal. Loved helping others no matter what, even if he wasn't the expert of whatever doing it was. In 2013, when his best friend passed he took over his business, which he renamed Madelin Cleaning Services. On top of his two fulltime jobs he would work late at nights till sometimes to 6 am. All over Houston making sure all these establishments were up to par. He was a hardworking man since the beginning, loved his family and friend, the definition of working hard to play hard. Also loved futbol, probably his favorite past time when he was at home, always watching a game with his wife complaining how the game is going. Big Cruz Azul and Barcelona fan, even loved seeing El Salvador play considering the type of team they were.
His favorite quote to always say when joking around with others, "I'm a beautiful man," and he is right, a beautiful man inside and out.
Mauricio is survived by Silvia, his wife, their three daughters: Reina, Janet and Miley. Also by his mother Reyna and his sisters along side all his nieces and nephews, and his adopted kids: Gloria, Kenya, Ana, Elda and Karla.
He was a Christian man, believed in his faith no matter what, now he gets to live in paradise until we get to meet him again.
The Ochoa and Pineda family is forever grateful for the love and assistance that his friends, family, and colleagues have provided Mauricio in his final days.
