Max, his older brother, Leon, and his parents fled Poland and arrived in New York in June of 1938. The family relocated to Houston, Texas in 1940 where Max would remain for the next sixty-five years.
He attended Oklahoma State University and Rice University and dreamed of becoming a doctor, but left without graduating to help his father run the family grocery business. He was a successful businessman, a loving father, and a devoted husband.
He departed this life June 27, 2021 in Boulder, Colorado, at the age of ninety-four. He remained kind and loving till the very end.
He leaves to cherish his memory: his wife, June Anita; his two daughters, Laura Elaine and Diana Leigh; his three sons from his first marriage to Marie Bowser - Michael Lee, Leslie Howard, and Richard Steven; as well as grandchildren, great grandchildren; other relatives, and a community of friends who love and miss him dearly.
Max will be laid to rest this Tuesday, July 6 at the Forest Park Lawndale, 6900 Lawndale St, Houston, TX 77023. The service begins at 12 noon.
