Melvin Raymond Schield, Sr., age 84, of Pearland, TX passed away on September 7, 2017 from complications of Myelodysplastic Syndrome. Mr. Schield served his country as a Combat Engineer in Korea with the 1st Calvary Division of the US Army from 1951-1953. He was a dedicated employee who retired from Entex after 35 years of service. He was a faithful member of St. Helen Catholic Church, he enjoyed fellowshipping with Super Seniors and served as an usher for the church.
He is survived by his wife of 61+ years, Mary Matz Schield; children: Melvin Raymond, Jr., Walter Charles & wife Debbie, Bart Anthony & wife Elaine, Sabrina Marie & husband Roger Marks; granddaughters: Brittany, Kristie, Cassandra, Chelsy & Samantha; numerous nieces, nephews and friends. He will be greatly missed by all.
The family will accept friends from 5-7PM with a Rosary recited at 6PM on Monday, September 11th at St. Helen Catholic Church, 2209 Old Alvin Rd., Pearland, TX 77581. The Funeral Mass will be at 10AM on Tuesday, September 12th at St. Helen. There will be a Private Interment to follow.
