Merle H. Swearingen

MERLE HAZEL SWEARINGEN went safely and peacefully home to be with her heavenly father Saturday, July 4, 2015. God and precious family members welcomed her with open arms and rejoiced at her arrival in heaven. Although our hearts are broken we will cherish the memory of our beloved Mother.

Merle Hazel Swearingen was born in Doddridge, Arkansas and moved to Houston, Texas after her marriage. She was a devoted wife and mother. She graduated from Bright Star High School in Doddridge, Arkansas and worked for Galena Park School District until she retired.

Merle is preceded in death by her husband, Abe C. Swearingen, her mother and father, James and Allie Hazel, her son, Abe "Tex" Swearingen, daughter, Aster Presswood, daughters-in-laws, Pat Swearingen and Brenda Swearingen, and brother and sister, Tom Hazel and Imogene Patton.

Left to cherish her memory are daughters Betty Hawkins , Mary Black, and Sharon Moon, sons Gary Swearingen and John Swearingen, son in laws Jimmy Hawkins, Dickie Black, and Joe Presswood, and numerous nieces, nephews, grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Family and friends are invited to attend a visitation on Monday, July 6, 2015 from 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. at Forest Park Lawndale Funeral Home at 6900 Lawndale, Houston, TX 77023.

The funeral service will be conducted at Forest Park Lawndale Chapel of "The Angels,"

Tuesday, July 7, 2015 at 2:00 pm followed by interment.
