Michael Mancilla

Michael was born to Leo C. and Eva S. Mancilla on January 24, 1949, in Houston, Texas. He graduated from Jeff Davis High School in 1967 and enlisted in the U.S. Army on May 28, 1971. While stationed in Korea, he received the National Defense Service Medal, Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal, and was a Sharpshooter (Rifle). He was honorably discharged on May 27, 1977 with a Specialist 4 ranking. Michael received a B.A. in Business Administration from the University of Houston in 1978. He retired from GE Supply/Gexpro/Rexel after 51 years of service where he created long lasting friendships in the electrical distribution industry. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, photography, lending a helping hand, and happy hour wherever the beer was cold. Michael was preceded in death by his second wife of 27 years, Marlene Grubbs; parents Leo C. Mancilla and Eva Salazar Mancilla, and sister Eneyda Mancilla.

Michael is survived by his first wife, Frances Vara, and their children: Michael Mancilla (Jane), Daniel Mancilla (Crystal), David Mancilla, daughter Christine Bielert (Travis); stepdaughter Leslie Grubbs (Sam); eight grandchildren; Sydney Mancilla, Tess Mancilla, Daniel Mancilla, Danielle Mancilla, Kammi-ly Mancilla, Cameron Mancilla, Jaden Bielert, and Noah Bielert; sisters Geneva Mancilla and Pauline Castillo; brothers Hector Mancilla and Leo Mancilla; great aunt Gloria Mancilla, numerous nieces, nephews, and his beloved dog Knucklehead (Bo).
