Michael Aaron McCullar was born on May 16, 1976 in Cincinnati, OH to Charles and Tonja McCullar. He was the second of three handsome and honorable sons. He was always very smart and inquisitive, staring off in deep thought or examining the minute details of nature. He was always destined for a purpose far beyond earth. He attended Winton Woods High School and received Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior at the age of 16 at Zion Temple First Pentecostal Church in Cincinnati, OH. As Michael grew in his relationship with Christ, he learned that through Christ he could conquer any challenge. His many conquered challenges include graduating with a B.S. of Engineering from the Illinois Institute of Technology. At IIT, Michael joined the Air Force ROTC and was an integral member and leader in the Sankofa Students Ministries where he led many bible studies. While in college, Michael met his beautiful wife, Angelina and they were wed on Oct. 23, 2004. After graduating college, Michael became an officer in the United States Air Force and was honorably discharged as a Captain in 2005. It was at this time that Michael and Angelina moved to Houston, TX and to their union were born three beautiful children, Gabrielle, Miles, and Michael Charles (Charlie). Mike loved innovation and technology, fishing, video games, flying, travel, outdoor adventure, and encouraging future generations. He worked as an engineer at Logik Research, a Test Director at NASA Johnson Space Center, and a Manager at GeoControls Systems, and finally started his own company ExoPlanet Technologies in 2014. While bored with military duties one day, Michael asked God for a big idea and God answered in a big way. This is when Macho Mengi was born. Michael spent the latter part of his life researching, designing, and building what would have been an observatory system consisting of multiple telescopes on the ground and in space networked together to function as one large telescope. It was his invention, life's work, and legacy. He also shared his faith in God and his innovative spirit on his weekly radio show "Eyes of the Universe" on the Bridge of Light radio broadcast. Michael was a member of First New Hope Bible Church since 2005, where he served with the Prayer Ministry; and was actively involved in Bible Study, Christian Bible Training (CBT), serving as Lead Servant of the Media Ministry, Evangelism Ministry teacher; and a member of the Church Board of Directors, all of which he served faithfully until his passing. Michael was an amazing husband, father, family member, and friend. He leaves to cherish his precious memories, his devoted and loving wife, Angelina McCullar. Houston, TX; one daughter: Gabrielle Nicole McCullar; two sons: Miles Ethaniel McCullar and Michael Charles McCullar; his mother: Tonja McCullar; his father: Charles McCullar; two brothers: David McCullar (wife - Kristen) Cypress, TX; Stephen McCullar, St. Louis, MO.; 7 nieces and nephews; the FNHBC family; and a host of other relatives, friends, and co-workers. Michael has been a great husband, father, son, teacher, prayer warrior, mentor, entrepreneur, Christian, but most of all, servant of the Lord. In the words of the Apostle Paul, he truly has “fought a good fight; he has finished his course; he has received his crown.”
