Michela Gaona Alvarez

Michela "Mickey" Gaona Alvarez was born on July 13, 1941, in Victoria, Texas, to Senovia Nunez of Cuero and Jose Gaona of Yoakum. She passed away peacefully on August 30, 2024, at St. Joseph Hospital in Houston, Texas.

As the eldest of five siblings, Mickey is survived by her brothers Polo, Jose, Macario, and her sister Longina Rodriguez Gaona, as well as her sister Martina Briagas Gaona. She was a devoted mother to her sons Rudy Cortinez and Hiram Lee Pinon, and she was preceded in death by Emmett Jeff "Bird" McIntyre Jr. Mickey cherished her grandchildren, Matthew Gaona and Sarah Gaona, and held a special place in her heart for Hillary Amethyst Jasso, whom she lovingly helped raise since she was six months old.

Mickey was not only a sister, grandmother, and aunt but also a courageous free spirit who had much to teach those around her. Her vibrant personality and nurturing nature touched the lives of many. Though she will be greatly missed, her memory will forever remain in our hearts.

A visitation for Michela will be held Saturday, September 21, 2024 from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM at Forest Park Lawndale Funeral Home, 6900 Lawndale Street, Houston, TX 77023. A funeral service will occur Saturday, September 21, 2024 from 12:00 PM to 1:00 PM, 6900 Lawndale Street, Houston, TX 77023. A committal service will occur Saturday, September 21, 2024 from 1:00 PM to 1:45 PM at Forest Park Lawndale Cemetery, 6900 Lawndale Street, Houston, TX 77023.
