Mildred was born in Cypress, Texas on August 16, 1922 to Charles and Renata
(Winkelmann) Froehlich. She met many of her life long friends while working at the
Juergen Store, and during her employment at Heights State Bank. She met the love of
her life, John Harvey Hood, and they married on May 31, 1947 in Houston, Texas.
Together they raised two daughters whom she spent most of her time caring for and
loving. She was very active in her church and community serving on the PTA, Meals on
Wheels, Neighborhood Watch, and was a Mom to all of the neighborhood kids.
After moving to Normangee, she became a member of the First United Methodist
Church. She was active in the UMW, where she loved traveling with her church friends,
the Senior Voyagers, to various attractions.
Mildred loved to cook and bake, for her family, and always made sure there was a dessert
at every meal. She enjoyed embroidering, and loved to share her handiwork with her
beloved girls.
She was preceded in death by her husband Harvey in 2002, two brothers, and two
nephews.
Mildred is survived by her two daughters Donna and husband Rick Lemons of Anderson
and Cindy and husband Scott Harrington of Shreveport, La. She also leaves behind her
true loves, her five granddaughters, Angela, Amanda, Haley, Casey, and Corey, two great
