

Milton Louis Kaiser Sr. was a Fourth Generation Houstonian, born on Dec. 9, 1923, at his childhood home, which his grandfather built, in the Houston Heights at 1031 Arlington St. He graduated with honors from John Reagan High School in 1940, and at the age of 16 went to work for Southwestern Bell Telephone Company (now AT&T). He worked full time and attended night school on campus at the University of Houston. In 1942, he enlisted in the Air Force and served until he was honorably discharged in 1946. He returned to Southwestern Bell and worked in Houston, Galveston, Austin, Lubbock, New York City, St. Louis, and San Antonio, where he retired in 1983 with 43 ½ years of service. In 1987, Milton moved back to Houston and relocated in the Memorial Area where he made many new friends while taking daily walks in Hershey Park. After an accident in 2007, he was transported to an assisted living facility in Plano, Texas and then to a retirement home where he remained until his passing.
He enjoyed travelling, hunting, genealogy, and spent many hours searching for and visiting with relatives he found in Europe. His family tree dates back to the 1600’s. He also spent a lot of time with his wife, researching her family history in Tennessee.
Milton was a lifelong member of the Lutheran Church, and held nearly every lay office in the congregation. He was a member of Christ Memorial Lutheran, Houston, when he went to his heavenly home on September1, 2017. He is preceded in death by his parents, Henry A. and Bertha T. Kaiser, and his loving wife of 35 years, Bette Anne Knowis Kaiser. Also preceding him in death was his son John Henry Kaiser, his brother Dr. C. H. Kaiser, his sister Edna Mae Barnes and husband Joseph, and his infant grandson John August Kaiser.
Servived by: two sons, Milton L. “Chip” Kaiser Jr., William Knowis Kaiser, and wife Felicia, and a daughter-in-law, Dr. Jina Kaiser, sister-in-law Suella Kaiser, and four grandchildren: Aubrianna Kaiser, William Kaiser, Grace Kaiser and Henry August Kaiser II. Also numerous nieces and a nephew.
