Minerva Amanda Jones, known to family and friends as “Cuzy,” passed away peacefully on July 13, 2026, in Houston, Texas, at the age of 95. Born June 4, 1931, in Raymondville, Texas, Cuzy’s life was marked by steady devotion to family, faith, and the quiet, enduring work of caring for others.
Cuzy was, in the fullest sense, a daughter, a sister, a wife, a mother, an aunt, a nana, a nurse, and, to many, a friend. Raised in Raymondville, she graduated from Raymondville High School and went on to attend Incarnate Word College, where she earned a Bachelor of Science in Nursing (RN). She later served as a school nurse at Burnet Elementary in the Houston Independent School District until her retirement—bringing to her work a calm presence and a deep respect for the well-being of every child entrusted to her care. Cuzy was also a faithful member of St. Jerome Catholic Church.
Although Cuzy traveled across the United States and to many countries, her favorite place was the beach house she shared with her husband, Laurence “Larry” Jones. Together, they built it into a cherished home away from home for family and friends. Many holidays and vacations were spent there, creating lasting memories—fishing, walking the beach, sitting on the porch, and sharing coffee while watching the sunrise or sunset on the bay.
Cuzy had a gift for gathering people. She loved to throw parties, and over the years her home in Houston hosted countless birthdays, wedding showers, and baby showers. She especially delighted in her Christmas Eve get-togethers, opening her doors to family and friends for a night made special by warmth, welcome, and the simple joy of being together.
Cuzy was preceded in death by her husband, Laurence “Larry” Jones; her parents, Narcisso and Elduara Cavazos; her sisters, Malvina “Molly” Cavazos and Mary Bertha Cavazos; and her brother and sister-in-law, Oscar and Estela Cavazos.
Cuzy is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Christopher and Lisa Reinhardtsen; her son and daughter-in-law, Stephen and Jennifer Reinhardtsen; her stepson and daughter-in-law, Wade and Tracey Jones; and her stepson, Ross Jones. She is also survived by four grandchildren, Cody, Noah, Grace, and Lily Reinhardtsen; two step-grandchildren, Dakota and Pearl; three nieces and one nephew; four great-nephews; six great-great-nephews; and one great-great-niece.
Cuzy will be remembered with gratitude and respect—for a life of service, for a home that welcomed others, and for the steady love she gave so freely to her family and friends.
