

Minerva “Minnie” Perez Serrano, of Spring, Texas, passed away on March 1, 2025, at the age of 82. She was born on June 27, 1942, in Ponce, Puerto Rico, and later moved to Houston, Texas, at a young age to live with her older sisters, after being sent there by her father.
On October 3, 1960, Minnie married her teenage sweetheart, Johnny. While raising their three daughters, she started her own cleaning business, gaining a loyal clientele who adored her. Known for her warm and welcoming personality, Minnie never met a stranger and loved connecting with others. She had a special way of blessing babies, and their parents often welcomed her affection.
Always determined to achieve more, Minnie earned her GED and transitioned into corporate America. She spent 13 years working as a reservation agent for Southwest Airlines, a job that required rigorous training, which she excelled in due to her unwavering determination.
Minnie had a passion for gardening, and her yard was always the most beautiful in the neighborhood. She loved spending time in her backyard, listening to music, and enjoying the garden and koi pond that Johnny built for her. Throughout her life, Minnie treasured family moments, and one of her favorite activities was shopping downtown with her daughters every Saturday. She adored her grandchildren and cherished time spent with her loved ones.
Minnie was preceded in death by her husband, Johnny Serrano; her father, Cesareo Cierra Perez; her mother, Angela Satana Perez; and her siblings: Consuelo Nunez, Juan Antonio Perez, Guillermo Perez, Castula Ramirez, Mercedes Pacheco, Emilio Perez, Eduardo Perez, Elpidia Wild, and Angel Perez. Minnie was the last surviving member of her immediate family.
She is survived by her daughters: Debra Serrano Hayes and her husband, Kelvin Hayes; Linda Perez Serrano; Carmen Serrano Ferguson and her husband, Keith Ferguson. She is also survived by her grandchildren: Dane Andrew Powell, Sean Andrew Powell, Erin Denise Hayes, and Zion Keith Ferguson, as well as her great-grandchildren: Nathan Andrew Powell, Collin Andrew Powell, and Jessica Ann Powell.
Minnie’s kind heart, warm spirit, and love for her family will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
