On December 30, 1929 Minnie Pearl Scott was born to Jeff and Betty Pearl Scott in Willis Texas. She was one of nine children. She attended school a short time in Willis Texas before the family relocated to Conroe Texas. She attended the Booker T. Washington High school in Conroe Texas. It was there she learned a strong work ethic and discipline that she exhibited throughout her life. She was baptized as a believer in Christ at an early age in Conroe Texas. She has been a member of Fontaine First Baptist Church for over forty years. On December 28, 1949, she married her childhood sweetheart, Beverly (Bev) Randolph Lewis. To this union three children were born. They were married for thirty eight years, until death did them part. Minnie Pearl was known as a friend to many or you could say any. She loved to cook and took great joy in entertaining any and all guests that would come through her door. She had a wonderful spirit of hospitality and love. She never wanted anyone to visit that she did not feed. She cooked large meals just in case someone might come by. Her kitchen table was the focal points and was usually decorated with a Pound Cake; she also made sure there was always fresh coffee on the counter. It is said often that she never met a stranger. She could meet someone, almost anyone, anywhere and talk to them for ten minutes and seem to walk away knowing their entire life story. She had a special gift of making everyone feel warm, loved and special. It's probably accurate to say, no one has ever entered her home and not felt welcomed and loved. Minnie Pearl loved The Lord and had a strong faith and belief that things would always work out for the good. She was also known for her infectious, unique and contagious laugh. Her laugh had a way of warming your heart and making you feel everything was right with the world. She strongly believed in faith, family and fellowship. She was a dedicated support system for her family. She cared for and nurtured her children and her children's children. She gladly took every opportunity to let it be known how proud she was of her family. (Especially her grandchildren). When company would come over she would put on a parade of her grandchildren to everyone that would stay long enough to listen. She wanted them to repeat their latest Christmas or Easter speeches. Give an update on their latest spelling test scores, new songs they learned, tell what their most current GPA and class rank was. Guests were continually subjected to their latest cheers, football game scores, merits or awards. She loved watching sports, even if she did not quite understand all of the rules of the games. She is well known for rooting for both teams because they were trying so hard and she did not want feelings hurt. She was a woman of character, surety, conviction and an undeniably strong will. She would listen to what you said and usually had an opinion or advice. When her answer was "I'll say" or "We'll see" it usually meant she did not agree or approve. She was a talented seamstress and fantastic friend. There were many nights she would stay awake all night so her daughters would have a new outfit by morning. Although it is well documented that she loved the Lord, her family and friends, she had an undeniable close bond to her sister Dorothy. There are few times that you would find them far apart or when you would see one without the other. They were so close that their names seem to be synonymous with each other. She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband. In addition to two sisters, Rita Montgomery and Marie Ray and two brothers Jeff Scott and Alfred Scott. Her memories are cherished by her three children; Beverly Ann Asberry, John Edward Lewis (Shanicka) and Pamela Lewis Moore. Three sisters; Mae Irvin of Oakland California and Erma Stitt of San Francisco California and Dorothy Lee Scott of Houston Texas. One brother; Robert James Scott and a Special Sister in Law/Love Alice Scott. She had seven grandchildren; Venus Watson (Terrance), Jivaro Bailey, Jerrold Crowder (Rhonda), Britni Anderson, Jarius Moore, Jonathon Lewis and John Lewis II. Eleven great grandchildren: Adonis Asberry, Christina Williams, Ashton Watson, Armani Watson, Cameron Crowder, Taylor Crowder, Brenda Bailey, Blair Jackson, Jullian Bailey, J'Von Bailey and Christian Bailey. Two great great grandchildren: Juel Williams and Zion Williams. Also cherishing her memories are a host or nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
