Minnie Perez, 92, peacefully passed away on Tuesday, February 27, 2018 surrounded by her loved ones. She was born April 25, 1925 in Lockhart, Texas to Julio and Herlinda Lopez, the youngest of three children. Confident and full of life, Minnie loved being a nurse’s aid while her husband Joe served in the Army during World War II. She was the ultimate caregiver, never knowing a stranger.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Herlinda and Julio Lopez; brother, David Lopez; sister, Ramona Nieto; and her loving husband of 58 years, Joe G. Perez. She is survived by her only daughter, Linda Tidswell and husband, Martin; granddaughter, Vanessa Wodehouse and husband Jim; granddaughter, Sarah Padilla and husband Rich; great granddaughter, Josephine McCalla. In addition to her immediate family, Minnie adored her nieces and nephews and treated them all as if they were her own.
Minnie volunteered for Harris County Precinct Two for many years, and was proud to be head of her Neighborhood Watch. After the passing of her husband, Minnie spent her time attending the MD Anderson YMCA, quilting, and enjoying time with family, friends and neighbors, which brought her the greatest joy.
