Nancy was born in Pittsburg, Kansas and grew up in Kansas City, Missouri. She graduated from Bishop Hogan Catholic High School in 1956. She graduated from Kansas State University in 1960, where she met the love of her life, Ralph Johnson. They married in 1961 and were blessed with three (3) beautiful, healthy children followed by her most precious treasures, her nine (9) grandchildren & one (1) great granddaughter. Nancy’s greatest love was family – her husband, children, and grandchildren.
Nancy & Ralph made Houston, Texas their permanent home in 1968. Nancy worked as a substitute teacher in Spring Branch ISD and as an active volunteer, led the PTO when her children were young in the 1970’s. She began her very successful career as a real estate agent in the 1980’s and continued as a “million dollar” seller every year until retirement in 2000.
Nancy was an A+ cook and loved to entertain her family and friends at their home. She threw great parties and holiday gatherings. She always had a bottle of red wine open to share with her friends and family. Nancy loved to play bridge and belonged to a bridge group with her dear friends of more than 50 years. She and Ralph spent a lot of time over the years at their son’s and their grandchildren’s sporting events. Nancy probably sat through more baseball games in her lifetime than most women!
Nancy and Ralph traveled often throughout their lives. There were lots of cruises and trips abroad, including Europe and Australia, with their lifelong friends.
Nancy was selfless, giving, loving, and generous, not just to her beloved immediate family, but to everyone…her friends, cousins, sisters, nieces and nephews, aunts, uncles, neighbors, and her church.
Nancy is predeceased by her mother and father, Marshall and Lucille Fuller. She is survived by her husband, Ralph V. Johnson, three children, Marshall (Jennifer) Johnson, Luci Davis, and Lara (Rusty) Cheves, nine (9) grandchildren, Ryan (Emily), Kyle, Travis, Boomer, Haley, Luke, Ellie, Marshall and Carter, and great-granddaughter, Amelia. Nancy is also survived by her sisters, Tisha (Doug) Petty and Judith (Donald) Ferguson, numerous cousins, nieces and nephews, dear friends and her caretaker, Violet, whom she dearly loved.
The family wishes to thank the staff at Houston Hospice for their exceptional and loving care of Nancy in her final days.
Family and friends will come gather and celebrate this wonderful woman's life during a Memorial Mass at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, October 23, in the sanctuary of St. Cecilia Catholic Church, 11720 Joan of Arc in Houston. The Rite of Committal will follow in the Texas Liberty Mausoleum at Memorial Oaks Cemetery, 13001 Katy Freeway, also in Houston.
