Born in Heber Springs, Arkansas, she was the daughter of Rolla and Ruth Bruner. She graduated with a Bachelor of Science Degree from Texas Wesleyan University and with a Master’s of Education from Sam Houston State University. Naomi dedicated 37 years of her life in serving the Aldine Independent School District in Houston, Texas and 40 years as an educator overall.
Naomi was an active member of the United Methodist Church. She was a loyal servant of her savior Jesus Christ. She devoted her time to her family, taking care and bringing up her daughter, granddaughter, and her great granddaughter. She enjoyed outings with her beloved husband and baking exceptional desserts. Naomi Ruth Black will remain in the hearts of many in remembrance of her genuine concern of others and her beautiful and extraordinarily kind spirit. She will also be treasured by all that she touched throughout her teaching career.
She is survived by her dearly loved husband, Kenneth D. Black, her daughter, Terri Young and husband Russell, her granddaughter, Sarah Zapata and husband Carlos, her great granddaughter, Addison Naomi Zapata, her brother, Richard Bruner, her nieces, Marilyn Platt and husband Bill, and Patti Bruner, her nephews, Scott Bruner and wife Jane, Rodney Bruner, and Charles Bruner and wife Jennaver as well as numerous other family members and friends. She is preceded in death by her parents, Rolla and Ruth Bruner, sister, Mary Robertson, and her brother, Jack Bruner.
Her memorial service will be held on Monday, February 5th, 2018 at 2:00 pm at the Faith United Methodist Church at 2402 Rayford Road in Spring, Texas with the interment at the Earthman Resthaven Cemetery at 10:00 am, visitation beginning at 9:00 am.
