Nelda Ann Murphy 82, passed away peacefully at home in Houston, Texas on Monday, November 9, 2020.

Nelda was born to Ed Hiram and Rose Irene Blagrave in Madisonville, Texas on February 1, 1938. She lost her beloved daddy in the Texas City Disaster in 1947 at the age and forever changed her young life. Her mother and she moved to Houston to start their life over with the help of her mother's family. There on Rusk Street, she met her forever friend Betty Lee Seiberling (Dedmon). They had a saying, "We will meet in the middle" because they lived across the street from each other and after talking for hours on the phone they would hang up and meet on the road.

Nelda leaves behind her beloved children, daughter Debbie Lynn and her daughter husband Bill Sorensen, her son Richard Bernard Hustedt, daughter Holly Lee Morton and her fiancé Jerrel Hammonds and grandson Jack Rose Morton who was her pride and joy. Jack and she had a saying, "Love you to the moon and back."

She married at a very young age (16), to Herman Hustedt and had two children, Debbie and Richard. At this time in her life she had a Dance Studio and taught ballet and tap. She also had classes in Manners. She was discovered at a Dress store in the 60's and asked to model bathing suits and shoes. So that became another career.

Nelda will always be remembered for her beautiful smile, kindness and love of animals. She had so many friends everywhere.

Nelda leaves behind a cousin, Delores Fine, special friends Nagi and his daughter Magi, Susi Walt, Renee' and Bobby Baptiste and Renee's grandchildren, Elizabeth and Jordyn, Connie Smithley and her daughter Angela, Curtis Morton and his fiancé Chantelle Dugas, Eric Kennedy, and Nathan Hale.

Our family would like to thank her Hospice (New Life) nurse, Carmelita and her wonderful aide Christine.

Growing up 1 house down on Sulphur was the funnest time of life. Ricky & I ran the streets, ditches and anywhere our bikes would take us. Nelda was a different kind of mom, more like a big friend. We used to travel the neighborhood, park the car, walk up to houses and ask to use the phone..just to see their house. It was fun for us as kids to go house looking. She had a great smile and always had kind things to say - and then some other things you needed to hear but didn't want to...She will me missed by everyone who knew her..................... RIP my dear ole neighbor!
