Nikkitta Jones, better known as Nikki, was heaven sent into this world on November 25, 1977 in the small South Texas town of San Benito. She was the second “flower” given to Roy and Maxine Jones. Nikki attended public schools in Fort Bend ISD in Missouri City, Texas. In 1995, Nikki and her classmates became the first graduating class of Lawrence E. Elkins High School. After her high school graduation, she attended the University of Florida for two years. Nikki subsequently moved to Chicago and enrolled at Columbia College where she earned a bachelor’s degree in Marketing Communications. In 2007, Nikki received a Master of Business Administration degree with honors from Texas Woman’s University. Nikki was an avid knowledge seeker, so she also earned a paralegal certificate in 2010. As a child, Nikki was an active youth member at Briarchase Missionary Baptist Church where she proudly accepted Christ Jesus as her Lord and Savior. In 1992, she continued fervently working for the Lord when she joined Abiding Faith Baptist Church under the leadership of Pastor Bobby R. Morgan. Nikki later joined Good Hope Baptist Church in Houston, Texas where she was an active member until her untimely illness. Nikki truly loved the Lord and, throughout her illness, praised Him for her wonderful life, family, and friends. Nikki had a very strong work ethic that was nurtured by her parents; she experienced a fulfilling and varied work life. While in college and after graduation, Nikki worked for several years in the banking industry. Prior to her death, Nikki was a Senior Compliance and Litigation Analyst at SABIC. As much as she enjoyed learning, Nikki equally loved imparting knowledge to others. Subsequently, Nikki’s “side gig” for several years was that of an adjunct professor at Houston Community College. Her financial background afforded her the opportunity to be a Financial Literacy Volunteer with Junior Achievement USA where she volunteered in low-income schools and communities for almost a decade. On Monday, February 20, 2017, Nikki went home to be with the Lord. She is now dancing in heaven with her grandfather, Robert E. Tipps, as she desired to do so in the weeks leading up to her death. She was preceded in death by her maternal and paternal grandparents. Nikki leaves to celebrate and cherish her memory: her loving parents Roy Jones and Maxine Jones, sisters Cherina (Jonathan) and Maria (Roland), brother Ron (Daintry), two nieces, one nephew, several aunts and uncles, and a host of cousins, other relatives, friends, and former co-workers.
