Nina Louise Davis-Schubeck age 86, was called to our Lord on Wednesday, November 9, 2022.
Nina was a "Lady" of peace, strength, beauty, integrity, and hard work. She was a unique and kind soul who loved the Lord, and touched the lives of all who were blessed to know her.
Nina was born on April 18, 1936 to mother, Nellie Pauline Davis and father, Thaddeus Ebenezer Davis Jr. in Menard, Texas. Her father passed away at her early age of fifteen, giving her the nickname "Hummingbird" that she held close to her heart. To some a Hummingbird represents healing, hope, blessings, or that a loved one is near. Nina was that blessing, hope, and healing for her mom as she became her rock taking on responsibilities and care of her younger siblings.
Nina would always express her love of her family with adoring admiration. Family was so important to her. Family and friends were her place of comfort and love. Besides her love of the Lord, "Family" was and will always be her first love.
Nina excelled in everything she did. After graduating from Jefferson Davis High School in 1954 she worked in accounting, and finance management in companies such as Turner Collie and Braden Inc., and Schlumberger.
Nina also had an enduring love for christian and classical music. She was incredibly gifted in singing and playing the piano. This love and growing passion for music started as early as her bathtub duets with her sister and then eventually grew to putting on shows at family gatherings with her sister and cousin singing and playing together for many years. As Nina's talent grew she sang for the Houston Symphony Chorale with such grace, expression, and compassion. It was at one particular life-changing performance of the four hour version of "The Messiah" that prompted a marriage proposal from her husband of 53 years, Harry B. Schubeck Jr.
Music was her dream and her life for many years. Some of her most meaningful pieces she loved playing on the piano were "Moonlight Sonata", "Clair De Lune", Mozart "Concerto", and the "Old Rugged Cross". She enjoyed listening to Hauser, Josh Groban, Andre' Bocelli, and Veritas to name some of her favorites.
Life took her in other directions and Nina re-discovered her new dream of raising her children and loving her family.
Nina gave her all with love and laughter through little everyday things. She spent most of her life thinking of others and helping others before herself. She was a rare and genuine person and an amazing mother.
As a "mother" her recipe started with faith and honesty, mix in pure humility, add strength of character that rises above the stress of life's strife, fold in personality, toss with generosity, pour in love from a heart that's true and you end up with one terrific woman we were blessed enough to call mom.
Nina was involved in everything she possibly could when it came to her children whether it be volunteering at school events, working the PTA, decorating the Parson ages for the church to attending school academics, friday football games, band/colorguard/dance competitions, and concerts.
Nina loved to cook and bake. She had several "famous" dishes she would share and make for family gatherings, company parties, school events, and holidays.
She had a love for animals big and small, that made her the designated person to ask in times of rescue or wanting a new pet. She loved riding and showing her horses at the stables and attending horse shows as well as loving on her poodle, german shepards, and chihuahuas at home.
Nina's family and friends meant the world to her. You could see the unconditional love in her eyes, and the joy it brought to her heart every time someone came to visit with her or when she was able to make family gatherings. She lived for God, family, and country.
Nina Louise Davis- Schubeck is survived by her loving children, Harry B. Schubeck III, Angela Renee Schubeck, Rebecca Louise Schubeck; beloved brother, Thaddeus E. Davis III, and sister, Alice (Cricket) Fierro, and adored memaw to Alexa N. Schubeck and Evan W. Turner.
Blessed is she who daily imparts nurturing care and kindness of heart.
Blessed is she whose goodness and grace wrap others hearts in a warm embrace.
Blessed is she whose unselfish love is a shining reflection of God above.
As we return one of God's angel's back to him we know that death may leave a heartache no one can heal but love leaves a memory no one can steal.
Proverbs 31:31 " Honor her for all her hands have done, and let her works bring her praise at the city gate.
