

Nolan John Bordelon, age 88, went to be with the Lord on August 17, 2011, was born in Marksville, LA., on March 2, 1923, to Alice and Abel Bordelon. He came to Houston in 1941. Worked for Southern Pacific Railroad and went into the Navy during World War II after the war in 1946, he was chosen to serve on the flag ship of Admiral Byrd for the fourth trip to the South Pole, named operation High Jump. He returned to work for the railroad until 1962 then went to work for Harris County as Clerk of Commissioners court until he retired in 1986.
He is preceded in death by his wife Lucille and his granddaughter, Holly Erin Young.
He is survived by children: Jo Sharon Petty, Rhonda Sue Young, Marla Gonzalez & Tom Bordelon; numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
He moved to Coldspring, Texas where he enjoyed living in the small country town serving in the Lions Club, Senior Citizens Board of Directors and Treasurer of the United Methodist Church of Coldspring.
Visitation will be held from 5-7pm at Forest Park Lawndale Funeral Home, on Friday, August 19, 2011.
Funeral service will begin at 1pm on Saturday, August 20, 2011 in the Chapel of Angels of Forest Park Lawndale Funeral Home with burial at South Park Cemetery, Pearland, Texas.
