Dear David, Randy and all the Hicks and Bell families, we are praying for your peace in this sad journey of Nolan moving into his eternal home. We pray your memories are of comfort.
When I was a little girl, Nolan came to live in our home in Morgan’s Point on the beach with my parents (his Uncle Ray and Aunt Edith), and my sister Susie and me, Liz.   I remember Nolan and I being together with my momma working on speech and basic skills and his sweet natural smile when finding success in stacking blocks and knocking them down. Being non verbal, we all learned to observe and perceive Nolan’s needs in his on style of behavioral communication. After a few years with us Nolan left our home. 
Years later when I attended college I perused my interests in helping people, I finally landed on education of non verbal people and taught the Deaf for thirty two years. When people ask me how I got interested in this field, I always say, I was inspired by the life and needs of my cousin, Nolan, and I am very grateful. He gave me my life’s legacy.

Uncle Nolan, I will always remember your smile and loving spirit... as well as your humor.  I always wished I understood more what was making you laugh and smile...   I wanted to see into your world more.  I find peace knowing that you are with God, your parents, and Aunt Fran.  I look forward to someday hearing what was going on in that mind of yours.  Tell Grandma, Grandpa, and Aunt Fran "I love you" from me.
