

Odessa Joann "Dess" Weakley (Minter), 91, born in Nineveh, Texas, passed away on March 24, 2024, in Houston, Texas. She was born on March 12, 1933. Odessa was a loving mother, known for her compassion, kindness, and hospitality.
Odessa is survived by her daughters: Donna Howson (Phil), Laurie Hutto (Bruce), Suzie Nesbitt (Jeff); grandchildren: Mike Howson, Greg Howson (Elizabeth), Drew Hutto (Viomar), Emily Hutto, Sarah Nelson (Jake), Skyler Maher (Robbie); great-grandchildren: Brooks, Lauren, Jack, Isabelle, Jakson, Luke, Anna, Penn, Ellie, Sage, and Andy; brothers: Richard Minter, Walter Minter, Jerry Minter; sisters-in-law: Jerrie Creeden, Joyce Goff; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins. She was preceded in death by her husband, Don Weakley; sons, Gary Paul and Larry Dale Weakley; father, Willie Minter, mother, Laura Anders; sister, Oneta Harvey Quaranta; brothers, Charlie Minter, W.F. Minter.
Odessa’s faith was a central part of her life, and she was a member of Lindale Assembly of God. She worked as an Executive Secretary for Texaco and Fluor Ocean Services, in addition to being a dedicated homemaker. She graduated from Ball High School in Galveston, TX. In her free time, she enjoyed gardening, painting, rock steady boxing, bowling, and most of all, spending time with her beloved family, especially playing games with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
