

1930 – 2016
Ofilia G. Rodriguez, 86, passed away peacefully on December 21, 2016 and is now in God’s arms. She was preceded in death by her loving husband, Antonio Rodriguez, Jr., her parents, Manuel and Carmen Gamboa, and her brother, Eugene Gamboa. She had a deep love for God, her family and friends.
She had a passion for teaching and taught over 20 yrs. at St. John’s Lutheran School on Sherman St. Even in her retirement years, she continued to tutor children to help them excel in their English and Reading skills. She also became a Foster Grandparent at Texas Children’s Hospital rocking babies to sleep and knitting cute caps for newborns.
She had a very strong faith and enjoyed reading her Bible. She was a very active person who regularly attended the YMCA taking water aerobics and learning Tai-Chi. The family would like to extend their gratitude to the staff at Silverado –Sugarland and Silverado Hospice for the warm and loving care they gave to her.
She absolutely loved and cherished her family and has made wonderful memories with all of us. Her legacy lives on in our family she created and all of the lives she touched and inspired. She was a loyal friend who cherished new friendships and admired friends she knew since childhood. She will be forever in our hearts. She is dancing in Heaven!
She was an amazing mom and is survived by her children: Rosalinda (Rose) Harshfield and husband Jim, of Houston; Antonio Rodriguez III and wife Terry, of Houston; Carmencita Davey and husband Mark, of PA. She doted on her 6 grandchildren: John Coddou III, Michelle Kyzar, Chris Harshfield, Melissa Cruz, Meredith & Michelle Davey. She adored her 4 great grand-children: Mack & Bo Kyzar, Abigail & Esteban Cruz. Survived by her dear brothers: Manuel and Ernest Gamboa. A special thank you to Manuel, for taking care of our mom.
Visitation will be Friday, January 6, 2017 from 5:00pm – 9:00pm. Funeral will be Saturday, January 7, 2017 at 10:30am at Forest Park Lawndale. In lieu of flowers, please make a donation in Ofilia’s memory to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital at www.stjude.org.
