It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Olecia H. Chuca, who departed this world on September 29, 2023 at the age of 75 years. She leaves behind a legacy of love, kindness, and cherished memories that will forever remain in our hearts and of those who knew and loved her.
Olecia was born on March 5, 1948 in Rancherias, Tamaulipas, Mexico to Anastacio and Paula Hinojosa. She grew up in Mexico where she trained and worked as a nurse. She moved to California where she loved harvesting crops as a field worker and met Apolinar L. Chuca whom she married and started a family with. They later moved to Texas and established their roots in Houston where she retired as an HISD employee.
Our mother led a fulfilling life dedicated to her children and family. She loved listening to music and dancing while in the company of family and friends. She enjoyed traveling with her family and exploring new places. She will be remembered for her resiliency, her compassion to others, her hard work and determination, but most importantly, for her warm smile which will forever be etched in our memories.
She was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, daughter, sister, aunt, and friend; her love and devotion knew no bounds. She is survived by her children Apolinar L. Chuca Jr., Isac Chuca, Yanira Chuca (Robert), Yesenia Chuca Garcia (Osvaldo Jr.) and her grandchildren Mateo J. Garcia and Elias S. Garcia. She also leaves behind her siblings Lauro Hinojosa, Ruben Hinojosa, Criselda Hinojosa, Nilda Villareal, Rafael Hinojosa, Humberto Hinojosa, and Jose A. Hinojosa. She was preceded in death by her husband, Apolinar L. Chuca, her parents, Anastacio and Paula Hinojosa, and her siblings, Ernestina Moreno, Lidia Garza, Anastacio Hinojosa Jr., and Isauro Hinojosa.
We express our heartfelt gratitude for the support and condolences received during this difficult time. She will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her. May she rest in peace, knowing that her memory will live on in our hearts.
