Olive Kelley

Kelley, beloved Mother of Tamara Kelley Skeete, passed away May 7th, 2013. Olive was born January 9, 1922, in Palestine, Texas to Willie Mae and Clarence Sammons. She joins in Heaven her beloved "Angel", Lloyd, to whom she was married for 68½ years. She leaves behind her daughter, Tamara and her husband, Taylor Skeete. Also, her precious sister, Carol "Sudie" and her husband, James Huddleston; her nephews Bryan & Brent Huddleston and grand nieces, Haley and Sarah. Her extended family reaches across the United States. Olive and Lloyd married in 1940 in Palestine, Texas and soon moved to Houston. During WWII, she worked at the Federal Reserve Bank to replace Lloyd while he served our country overseas. Olive worked for several years as either a volunteer for Tamara's schools or as a secretary for a tool company. After retiring, she worked at Tamara's of Houston where she met many friends whom she loved until her passing. Olive & Lloyd loved traveling with family and friends. Their favorite destination was Hawaii! Her whole life was about family and friends. Her personality was infectious and she always was "one of the girls" no matter her age! She will be missed deeply. The family wishes to thank the staff at Park Manor - South Belt for the tender, loving care that they gave Olive. She loved them all. Visitation will be from 12:00-2:00, Monday, May 13. The funeral will follow at 2:00. Both will be held at Forest Park Lawndale, 6900 Lawndale, Houston, TX 77023.
