Olivia Mata Martinez

Olivia Mata Martinez age 84, of Houston, Texas passed away peacefully surrounded by family. She was called to join our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ in Heaven on Wednesday, April 20, 2022 at 11:07am. She was born in Cuatrocienegas, Coahuila, Mexico on September 11, 1937. She married her deceased spouse, Agustin Lopez Martinez, on April 28, 1963. They both came to America under a work Visa. In 1984, they both became United States citizens. Olivia was very active with the Catholic Daughters during the early 70's. She retired from North Forest Independent School district in which she worked for 27 years.

Olivia would spend her free time crocheting blankets for her family, whether it was for a birthday, baby shower, Christmas or any other occasion. She also crocheted hats to donate to the babies in the maternity ward at Memorial Hermann Greater Heights and Texas Children's Hospital.

She is survived by her 5 children, son Carlos Martinez, daughters Olivia Martinez Silva, Laura Martinez, Sonia Martinez Perez, Mary Jacklyn Salazar and her son in law Abel Salazar who she considered as her son. Along with 14 grandchildren, Nicole Cantu, Nicholas Martinez, Daniel Marroquin, Denise Martinez, Franco Silva, Olivia Silva, Vanessa Martinez, Manuel Martinez, Sabrina Martinez, Alissa White, Joshua Perez, Abel Salazar Jr., Aaron Salazar and Andrew Salazar: 18 great grandchildren, Sergio Cantu, Giovani Cantu, Lia Cantu, Aaliyah Silva, Elijah Silva, Tony Zepeda Jr., Ivan Zepeda, Destiny Perez, Trinity Perez, Armani Lopez, Jordan Martinez, Aryiana Martinez, Matthew Martinez, Melissa Martinez, Mandy Martinez, Joseph Martinez, Ayden White and Maisy White. She will be greatly missed by her family and friends.

Serving as pallbearers: Daniel Marroquin, Nicholas Martinez, Manuel Martinez, Joshua Perez, Tyler White, Abel Salazar Jr., Aaron Salazar and Andrew Salazar.
