Pat Dan McCoy, age 79, of Houston, Texas, went to be with the Lord Thursday, August 9, 2012 at the Houston Hospice Medical Center. He was of the Christian faith and was devoted to God throughout his life, as a pioneer in the field of treatment for recovering addicts and alcoholics. He attended Lee College from 1970-1972 and University of Houston from 1972-1974. He worked as assistant manager and executive director of New Directions Club of Houston, where he gave love and guidance to people recovering from addictions for over forty years; he retired in May of 2003. After which he continued to participate daily in the recovery of others.

Through-out his life, he enjoyed watching his favorite sports team, the “Ohio State Buckeyes” whenever they were playing; he was devoted to and loved spending time with his family, friends and co-workers. He enjoyed life and loved to travel. His greatest passion in life was helping people conquer their addiction to drugs and alcohol; he is truly an inspiration to many people recovering from the horrors of addiction. Pat was a great man, loved by many and will be missed dearly.
Pat was preceded in death by his wife Peggy McCoy of 33 years, and his mother Bonnie Warth of Ozona Texas.
Pat is survived by his son, grandchildren and nieces and nephews, as well as, many extended relatives.
The Funeral Service will be held at 10: 00 a.m. Tuesday August 14, 2012 in the Chapel at Earthman Resthaven Funeral Home, 13102 North Freeway Houston, Texas. The family will receive friends from 9:00 a.m., one hour before the service begins at 10:00 a.m. at Earthman Resthaven Chapel.
