She can be frustrated with modern conveniences, but I am glad she found value in our Amazon deliveries.  Living in the same area all these years, her excellent navigation skills underscored the usefulness of Waze and Google map apps.
Like me, Aunt Pat is very private, yet she allowed me to catch a glimpse of her world. She afforded me invaluable experiences. Living in the moment and living life to the fullest is what I have learned from Aunt Pat. Her favorite color, yellow, reflected her true passion for life, cherishing each day. She has been a bright sunshine to me and many of her family and friends. Yellow is a perfect match for her positivity.
My life is so much fuller and more meaningful because of Aunt Pat. She showed me the true meaning of joie de vivre. Aunt Pat will be missed by many, including my phone navigation, which surprisingly reminded me of my travel time of 56 mins to her home. 
On a good note, as if fate has it written down somewhere. Sydney will have the best of years to come. He is in excellent hands and a very loving and safe home. I could not be happier for Sydney, Aunt Pat. I know how much you worried about him. Rest in peace. All is well.

The last year and a half spent with Aunt Pat has filled me with memories that will forever etch itself deep in my mind.
Beneath that petite figure is a woman born with tenacity. Despite her health issues, she had an intense mindset to be self-reliant. In her world, asking for assistance is a bother even when urgently needed and necessary.
Keeping busy was a constant with Aunt Pat. She was never tired of doing mundane house chores. She found comfort and solace when working in the yard, pulling weeds, planting herbs, tending to her flowers, and, most importantly, caring for Sydney, her loyal companion and steadfast protector.
Now and then, Aunt Pat would do things that would make me shake my head in disbelief. In these instances, it never fails; her favorite remark is, "You overreact." A while back, she scared me to my wits end when she insisted on walking into Whole Foods and going through every aisle as she pushed the grocery cart. I was so relieved when she outdid herself at Whole Foods. We were both overjoyed and proud of her accomplishment. She was pleased and content with the outcome of such a challenging feat. She felt victorious. It was quite a remarkable day.
Aunt Pat's indomitable spirit kept her going and, without a doubt, made up for her lack of physical strength. There was no arguing or compromising when she made up her mind. She knows what she wants and is unyielding, resolute. She is a strong-willed, determined, and fearless woman.
Aunt Pat's great sense of humor had always been a delight. She spreads laughter and happiness with her quick wit and intelligent comebacks. Aunt Pat was also a woman with a heart of gold; when it came to those in need, she was beyond generous. As for herself, she had a thrifty lifestyle. 
Aunt Pat is indeed a free-spirited, intuitive, sharp, and adventurous individual. She is upfront, honest, and tolerant of differences; she speaks her mind.

Pat loved her husband, Joe.  They had a very special bond.  He passed while she was in surgery.  I was going to have to tell her of his passing.  Before I got the words out, she told me she knew something had happened to Joe.  She knew.  She didn’t have to be told.  That is a very special bond.
Pat had a love for life.  She wanted to get out and learn more, do more.  She had a love for plants.  That’s why we first met and became friends.  Plants were more of an addiction for both of us.  We loved to try new plants and trade plants.  Nurseries were just regular stops to make in the car.  Even if we weren’t buying, we were shopping….thinking about where these plants will fit in the yard.  Plants were fun for both of us.  They were calming for both of us.  And they were a form of expression.
We also had a love for art in common.  I have an art background, but she was a true artist.  With her modelling, makeup, etc. background, she had a gift for expressing herself.  She could paint, mold clay, or express her artistic flare in many ways.  That is a true gift to be admired and appreciated.  She didn’t hold back.  Even when she was hurting and slowing down, she wanted to be artistic.  The world is better for her artwork.
Pat also loved her dog, Sydney.  He meant the world to her.  Some say she spoiled him, but I just say he was well-loved by her…..the way it should be.  I had the honor of meeting him and getting to visit with him and cuddle with him.  Pat worried what would happen to him when she passed.  Don’t worry Pat.  He’s in good hands.  He’s in another loving home.

That is how I will always remember her, strong, determined, hardworking, tireless, organized, methodical and above all concerned about the people who worked for you. It leaves me a great void Mrs. Pad, I will miss you very much and I thank you from the bottom of my heart for your hospitality, everything you taught me about plants, cleanliness, economy, restaurants and the unconditional love for the furry ones. May God give you eternal rest, now you have the most beautiful garden in the best place, together with the creator, rest in peace, with much love, Cecilia 🐕
