Born on April 20, 1948, in Houston, Texas, Pat was raised in Denver Harbor, where she spent much of her childhood with her parents, Burlin and Bob Olds, and her beloved grandparents, “Bigmama” and “Bigdaddy.” Some of her favorite memories were the simple ones — helping her grandmother hang clothes on the line, going on long walks together, and picking vegetables from the garden. Those ordinary moments stayed close to her heart throughout her life.
As a teenager, she went on a blind date with a young man named Sonny Harris. That one date turned into a 30-year marriage and a life built through hard work, loyalty, and determination as they raised their two children, Ricky and Julie. Together, they built Southwest Foods Distributing from the ground up.
Pat was independent before it was expected, capable before anyone asked her to be, and honest in a way that made people trust her. She taught herself bookkeeping and managed the financial side of Southwest Foods Distributing for more than forty years with incredible precision and work ethic. If the books were off by even a penny, she stayed until she found it. She was someone people trusted deeply, a keeper of confidences, and in many ways, a woman ahead of her time.
To the people closest to her, Pat’s love was often shown quietly. It was a perfectly cooked meal, a thoughtful card in the mail, or sitting together watching a movie at the end of the day. She paid attention to little things, remembered details that mattered, and cared for people in a steady, dependable way.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Sonny Harris, and her parents, Burlin and Bob Olds.
Pat is survived by her daughter, Julie Jeanes and husband David of Magnolia; her son, Ricky Harris and wife Carol of Katy; and her grandchildren Lauren, Trey, Jaclyn, Katherine, and Ava.
Visitation will begin at 1:30 p.m. on May 29, 2025, with services beginning at 2:30 p.m. at Forest Park Lawndale Funeral Home in the Chapel of Angels, with graveside services to follow.
