Patricia Ann Read

Pat was born on January 4, 1947, in Sheldon, Iowa, to Duane and Leola Morrow. She was the second of four siblings, all of whom preceded her in death. She is survived by her nieces, Kelly Johnson, Kandra Bethke, Lauren Glass and Jessica Glass, as well as four grandnieces.

Pat spent her early years living in several cities throughout the central United States. After graduating from Sandie High School in Albuquerque, New Mexico, in 1965, she made the brave move to Houston to begin a life of her own.

While working at Prudential Insurance, Pat met the love of her life, Ronny, through a mutual friend. They married in Springfield, Missouri, on June 17, 1967, and returned to Houston to begin their life together. Their marriage was filled with love, laughter, devotion, and countless memories throughout their 59 years together.

Pat and Ronny were blessed with two wonderful children, Shelly and Scott. Their family grew to include Scott’s wife, Kristi, and two beloved grandsons, Jack and Ryan. Being a grandmother brought Pat tremendous joy. She was deeply involved in Jack and Ryan’s school activities and was one of their biggest fans, always cheering them on from the sidelines at football and basketball games. She also generously gave her time to the Scouting program and to mentoring students and Birkes Elementary.

Professionally, Pat built a successful career in the commercial appraisal field, working as a project administrator for AWS. After 25 years, she retired and embraced a life filled with travel, adventure, and time spent with the people she loved. Pat was blessed with many wonderful friendships throughout her life. She especially enjoyed traveling with friends, searching for treasures while antique shopping, and gathering around the table for a spirited game of dominoes.

Pat will be remembered for the love she had for her family, the friendships she treasured, and the many ways she showed up for the people she loved. Her life was made richer by the people around her, and their lives were made richer by knowing her. She leaves behind a lifetime of memories that will continue to be shared, cherished, and carried forward by those who loved her.

The Read family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to Altus Hospice for the kindness, compassion, and care provided to Pat and her family. A very special thank you is extended to Kat and J, whose loving care made it possible for Pat to remain comfortably at home during the final six months of her life.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorial donations be made to St. Stephen’s United Methodist Church, 2003 West 43rd Street, Houston, Texas 77018, in Pat’s memory.

Pat was deeply loved and will be greatly missed, but the love, laughter, and memories she gave her family and friends will remain with them always.

Visitation will be held at Pat H. Foley & Company, 1200 West 34th Street, Houston, TX 77018, on September 24, 2026, from 5:30 pm to 8:00 pm.

A Funeral Service will take place at Pat H. Foley & Company, 1200 West 34th Street, Houston, TX 77018, on September 25, 2026, at 10:00 am.

A Committal Service will be held at Earthman Resthaven Cemetery, 13102 North Fwy, Houston, TX 77060, on September 25, 2026, at 12:30 pm.
