Paul Rea Gilbert Jr.

Paul Rea Gilbert, Jr., age 77, passed away on Wednesday, November 27, 2024, at Memorial Hermann Hospital in The Woodlands, Texas. Paul was born in Houston on August 10, 1947, to Paul and Ruie (Lawrence) Gilbert.

After graduating from Lutheran High School in 1965, he attended Southwestern University where he was a member of the Pi Kappa Alpha fraternity. After receiving his bachelor’s degree in education in 1971, he went on to teach Physical Education, then worked in the pest control industry until his retirement; he was also a soldier in the Army National Guard. Paul married Carmen (Reyes), in May of 1971, later having two sons, James and Paul; they were married for 51 years until her passing in 2022.

Paul enjoyed playing football and softball, he played the piano and the guitar, and he loved spending time with his family, whether it was playing poker at family gatherings or vacationing in the mountains with his wife and children. He always had a smile on his face and a joke to tell, he loved to laugh. He was also a very giving person and was glad to help anyone in need.

Paul is survived by his sons, James and Paul (spouse Matthew), brother Larry Gilbert (wife Debi), and many nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his wife, Carmen, his parents, Paul and Ruie, his sister Judith, and his brother Thomas.

He will be forever loved and missed.
