

Peggy Marie Culpepper, born in Blytheville, Arkansas on July 22, 1926, the daughter of J.T. and Lillian Winborn, died on June 4, 2016 around 2:00 p.m. at her daughter’s home in Missouri City, with family by her side. Peggy was preceded in death by her parents and her husband, Randy Culpepper. She is survived by her daughter Sheri Burnett and her husband Roy Burnett, daughter Jody Valentine and her husband Paul Valentine, daughter Amy Harrott, sister-in-law Janice Shult and her husband Richard Shult. Peggy is also survived by five grandchildren; Wendi Fabre and her fiancé Brandon Brookshire, Tonya Grubbs, Ashley Grubbs, Todd Burnett and Sydney Valentine; great grandchild Rudy Fabre; niece Tracy McKernan and her husband Joe McKernan, great niece Bailey McKernan and numerous cousins. Peggy also left the family’s loving dog, Pierre, who dearly misses her. Much of Peggy’s childhood was spent in Memphis, Tennessee. She then moved to the Houston area after graduating high school. In the mid 1940’s, Peggy was an usherette at the Alabama Theater in Houston, Texas, where she watched her favorite movie, “Gone With The Wind”, for the first time. Peggy married Randy in 1948 and became a full time homemaker, being an excellent cook. She loved caring for her children and was very involved in their lives. In 1962, Randy’s work brought her and the family to South Carolina until 1965, when the family returned to Bellaire, Texas. She enjoyed going to church, especially while living in Bellaire, Texas in the 1960’s. In 1972, Randy’s work brought the family to Alabama, returning to the Houston area in 1978. Peggy loved baseball and was a faithful Astros fan beginning with their first game in 1962, when they were still the Houston Colt 45’s. Peggy enjoyed relaxing, watching television and a good game of cards. Some of her favorite television shows were Jeopardy and Wheel of Fortune. The greatest love of Peggy’s life was her family. She dedicated herself; being a loving and caring wife, mother, aunt, cousin and grandmother. Peggy was known to her grandchildren and many others as, “Grannie”. Peggy will be remembered by friends and family as witty, kind, caring and loving. She will be greatly missed by all that knew her.
