Peggy was born November 16, 1949 in Huntington, Texas to Albert and Verlene Innerarity. She grew up in Huntington along with her brother Larry before moving with her parents to Houston in 1964. Peggy graduated from Lamar High School in 1968. She married the love of her life and husband of 32 years, Charles “Buddy” Thomas in 1969 at West University Baptist Church. Together they had many great adventures, the greatest of which was being parents to their three adoring children, daughter Jennie and sons Jeff and Chuck. Along with raising kids and managing a household, Peggy was able to find time to volunteer with multiple organizations and ministries.
Peggy enjoyed singing, playing piano, cooking, reading and gardening. She loved spending time with friends and family from bible studies to planning the famous Innerarity-Davis family reunions. She was a volunteer with Girls Scouts of America for 15 years, Youth Reach Boys Home and held multiple positions throughout her church.
Peggy was a member of First Baptist Church of Houston where she and Buddy formed lifetime friendships with their amazing bible study group. She also attended Jersey Village Baptist Church where she was very active in the choir, women’s ministry and children’s ministry.
Peggy is survived by her daughter Jennie (Tad) Shirley and sons Jeffrey Thomas and Charles “Chuck” Thomas; granddaughters Amanda, Hailey, Grace, Cara and Ella; brother Larry (Barbara) Innerarity, nephews Joseph, Justin and Jay and several other relatives and friends.
Peggy was preceded in death by her loving husband of 32 years Charles “Buddy” Thomas and her precious parents Albert and Verlene Innerarity.
The family would like to thank everyone for the outpouring of love and support during this time. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made In Peggy’s name to Heart to Heart Hospice Foundation through their website https://www.htohhfoundation.org/donation/.
“Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy and my burden is light.”
