

Philip Theodore Yochum, Jr., born May 8, 1962 in Baltimore, Maryland, passed away October 17, 2010. Philip was preceded in death by his father, Philip Theodore Yochum, Sr., and is survived by wife, Melanie Petway Yochum; mother, Connie Petrillose Yochum; sister, Cindy Fessick and husband, John; nephew, Andrew Fessick; numerous other family in upstate New York; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Frank and Tina Petway; sister-in-law, Tracey Petway; brother-in-law, Matt Petway, and many other family and friends.
Mr. Yochum attended Cornell University in New York State, and graduated from the University of Houston. He was a U.S. Army Aviator in the 17th Cavalry, and proudly flew AH1 Cobra helicopters. Philip was an investigator in the Homicide Division of the Houston Police Department, which he joined in 1994. For the last few years, he was in the HPD Airport Division at Hobby Airport. In 2003, he also began volunteering with the Pearland Fire Department, moving up through the ranks to District Chief, and retiring in 2010.
The family will receive friends from 5:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. Thursday, October 21, 2010 at Heights Funeral Home. The funeral service will be 11:00 a.m. Saturday, October 23, 2010 at Immanuel Lutheran Church, 306 East 15th Street, Houston, Texas 77008. Interment will follow in Woodlawn Garden of Memories. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made in Philip’s memory to Pearland Volunteer Fire Department, P.O. Box 104 Pearland, TX, 77584.
