Phillip Bolinger Calaway

Phillip Bolinger Calaway passed away on September 22, 2026, at the age of 68. He was born on October 10, 1957, in Vancouver, Washington. As a resident of Houston, Texas, Phillip will be remembered with deep respect and lasting gratitude by all who knew and loved him.

Phillip was a veteran of the United States Army, attaining the rank of Sergeant over the course of eight years as active duty and then serving an additional seven years in the Army Reserves. With steady courage and a strong sense of duty, he continued a life of service as a police officer with the Houston Police Department, dedicating a total of 30 years to law enforcement. His work reflected a resilient spirit, a hard-working nature, and loyalty to the communities he served.

Above all else, Phillip was a devoted husband and father—“the best,” as his family lovingly describes him. His love for his family was clear in the way he stood by them with unwavering commitment. He also found meaning and peace in the outdoors, especially in the mountains, lakes, rivers, and wildlife of the Bitterroot Mountains in Montana—places that spoke to his enduring strength and appreciation for the world around him. He will be terribly missed.

Phillip is survived by his wife, Marita; his beloved sons, Phillip Daniel and Christopher; his siblings, Maureen Calaway, Delisa Burton, and David Calaway; his sister-in-law, Ivania; his sister-in-law, Margit Reinhardt in Germany; and his niece and nephews, Jenni, Matthew, Jacob, and Joseph.

Visitation will be held at Waltrip Funeral Directors, 1415 Campbell Road, Houston, Texas 77055, on September 28, 2026, from 5:00 pm to 8:00 pm.

A Committal Service will take place at Pitman Cemetery, Muldoon, Texas, on September 29, 2026, at 11:30 am.
